Welcome to Wild Cap Trading Company

An Ode To the Splendor Of Mushrooms — timeless, earthy, and enduring.

There is something undeniably enchanting about mushrooms. Perhaps it’s their quiet way of appearing overnight, their curious shapes, or the way they seem to straddle the boundary between the seen and unseen. For me,  and for many of us who’ve wandered woodland trails or stirred a pan of chanterelles on a quiet evening,  mushrooms are more than just food. They are symbols of resilience, renewal, and a beauty that asks us to pause and look closer. And they are plant medicine.

At Wild Cap Trading Company, we’ve created a home for mushroom lovers of every kind — foragers and the health-conscious, artists and gardeners, scientists and dreamers alike. Whether you’re captivated by the earthy aroma of wild morels, the delicate lace of mycelial threads beneath your feet, or the timeless folklore woven through fungi culture, you’ll feel right at home here. We celebrate the wisdom of the forest, including the plant medicines and natural healing traditions that have connected people to mushrooms for centuries. Our mission is to share that sense of wonder through mushroom-inspired goods for the Wild at Heart, featuring thoughtfully crafted apparel, practical foraging gear, and cozy home textiles that let you carry a bit of the forest’s magic, and its healing spirit,  wherever you go.

A Brief History of the 'Shroom

Mushrooms have been with us far longer than civilization. Ancient cultures across the globe — from the highlands of Mesoamerica to the mountain forests of China — have revered fungi for their healing properties and spiritual significance. The so-called “mushroom of immortality,” Ganoderma lucidum, was once reserved for emperors; elsewhere, sacred rituals included mushrooms as a bridge to the divine.

Even in early Europe, fungi found their way into illustrated herbals, religious art, and the occasional fairytale. They were feared, admired, misunderstood — and always intriguing.

Why We Started Wild Cap

We created Wild Cap out of reverence: for nature, for nourishment, and for the many quiet marvels that so often go overlooked. Our offerings reflect this — from responsibly harvested wild mushrooms to stories, recipes, and reflections from the wider world of fungi. We believe in celebrating mushrooms not only as ingredients, but as symbols of life's hidden abundance.

You’ll find thoughtfully sourced products, yes, but also a growing community of people who love what mushrooms represent: resilience, transformation, and an earthy elegance.

Explore with Us

We invite you to explore, our site where curiosity is always welcome. Perhaps you’ve captured a perfect shot of a mushroom tucked beneath moss, written a short blog about a foraging trip, or recorded a video of your favorite recipe — we’d love to see it.

Mushrooms saying hello and communicating

“Mushrooms remind us that even in the darkest soil, beauty finds a way to rise.”

From forest to table, folklore to science, Wild Cap is here to celebrate mushrooms in all their forms. Thank you for being part of the journey.

Warmly,
The Wild Cap Team
